Welcome!
Thanks for visiting!
I grew up in a small town in central Massachusetts. I was fortunate to be around music often, whether it was school band, drum lessons, bands with my friends, or even car rides with my mom and her eclectic music taste (thanks mom!).
After high school, I came to the corn to study Percussion Performance at Northern Illinois University. Through different ensembles, I was able to perform with Kansas, Robert Greenidge (steel pannist for Jimmy Buffett), and perform at PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention).
After my time at NIU, I started working regularly. I have been fortunate to work with a wide variety of artists in the Chicago area, performing genres including jazz, country, pop, funk, jam, rock, calypso, and folk. Currently, you can find me with bands such as O.P.E., Mungion, Leslie Hunt Band, InFunktious, and filling in for others.
I have been playing drums for the past 25 years. During this time, I have traveled across the U.S., met some amazing people, and continue to learn more every day about music and this wonderful instrument.
Teaching
I have been teaching private lessons for almost 20 years, and have taught anyone from the ages of 4 to 65. I have also worked for several years as both a teacher’s assistant and a substitute teacher in an elementary school. Through all of my experiences in education, I have learned to adapt material to a student’s needs/way-of learning. Everyone learns differently, and as such, lessons are personalized to each student!
Everyone comes from a different background. Some of us learn from listening to our favorite bands, some learn from watching YouTube videos, some have learned in their school’s music program, etc. Regardless of how you’re coming to me, I’ll meet you where you’re at, and then we’ll figure out a plan that works best for you!
